New Blog!! This One is Closed!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that this blog is officially closed and done!  The good news is I've started a "new" blog called "Curls and a Camera".  Everything is pretty much the same, it's mostly just a switch in name.  I felt like I wanted to use a name that embodies the tone of my blog by just the title alone.  You may not know, but my "trademark" has always been my big curly/kinky hair and the fact that I'm always taking pics.  So the new name matches perfectly!  Anyway head over to Curls and a Camera--HERE.  Make sure to add it to your RSS feed readers, etc!!

Be sure to note my name change on other social media sites:

Catch you on the other side!

Statement Shoe

Nothing can take a pretty simple outfit and kick it up a notch like a statement shoe.  When I first saw these shoes on Zara.com, I did not hesitate buying them on the spot.  Now, ya'll know I love me some boho chic stuff...

This night, the hubs and I were on our way to see Amel Larrieux at City Winery here in ATL.  Great show, by the way.  Anyway, I figured a shoe this "loud" would probably pair better with a fairly simple outfit, and I liked how it all came together.  Off-the-shoulder top, jeans and BAM, the shoes!  I got lots of compliments!

I suggest you go snap up these babies while you can, or any shoe Zara has out right now.  They are all so good!

Have a great Hump Day.

Overalls

I posted this top picture on my Instagram yesterday, but thought that I should turn it into a blog post, just in case anyone wanted to know where to get these overalls.  They are the cutest and the fit is perfect.  I have a thing for wearing cropped flared pants with ankle booties, so when I saw these overalls on ASOS (which also happened to be on sale), I had to snap them up.  I've also cut an old pair of bootlegged jeans I've been holding onto into a pair of "cropped flares" as well.  You guys should try out the look, it's so chic!

Happy Hump Day!

Buffalo

I have about 6 plaid shirts in my closet, and I always look forward to wearing them in the fall/winter.  Of course, plaid can be worn all year around, but all of my plaid shirts are flannel--so that would be a no-go for the warmer seasons.  Anyway, one of my fave plaid styles is "buffalo plaid".  It's a classic with a bit of edge and makes me feel oh so hipster-ish.  Paired with skinny jeans and ankle boots, makes for a chic casual ensemble.

By the way, I snagged my buffalo plaid shirt from Old Navy.  They are out of the red buffalo plaid, but have it in cobalt blue and it's on sale for $6.99!  Thank me later!

Oh hey!!

Hey guys!  Yea, yea...you know me, so it's been a while.  I know I've gotten so sporadic with my posting, but I'm still here!  I was on a roll for a while, but I blame the colder weather for the slow-down.  I'm less inspired to go outside (where the best lighting is) at just the right time for the best possible photos.  I don't do well with cold.  So I find myself enjoying taking casual pics (like the one above) for Instagram over this blogger grind.  So please, if you don't follow me on Instagram--please do!  I will still be posting here on occasion and sharing things I feel "blog worthy", but I'm starting to think I may be wayyy more interesting on IG. *wink*

Hope all is well!

2 PC Thigh & Leg

2 PC Set - H&M // Boots

Happy Friday, ya'll!!  I decided to throw up a quick blog post of this Aztec print 2 PC set I snagged from H&M almost a year ago.  I'm just now getting around to wearing it.  It's made of a heavy woven material, like that Mexican poncho kind of material, if you know what I mean.  If you didn't know, H&M has been offering up various 2 PC set style outfits here-and-there for a while now, and they are always on point!  I like them because they are "instant outfits", kind of like rompers but with no bathroom difficulties.  *wink*

(By the way, I this set is no longer sold, but I did find a size 8 for sale on eBay, HERE.)

Well, I'm off to prepare for this upcoming camping trip the fam and I are taking with my son's Cub Scouts.  I love being outside and I love nature--but this is my very first time camping (not including 6th grade camp)!  I'm pretty excited, and the weather here in Atlanta is perfect.  Blog post on this camping trip will be coming soon.  Have a great weekend!

Drop it Low

DRESS // SHOES (Zara, old)

...that waist, that is.  Fell in love with this leaf print when I saw it!  I love that the color scheme makes what could be a "summer print" go right along with autumn.  I also don't own any drop waist dresses.  It is surprisingly a flattering style!  Anyway, you can find it in my shop--> HERE.

Anyway, the hubs and I are heading to a Halloween party tonight.  If you've been reading my blog for a while, you should know that Halloween is one of my favorite "holidays"!  Hopefully, I'll have some pictures to share later.

Have a great weekend!

Blouse

BLOUSE // JEANS // BOOTS // SUNGLASSES

I've always associated blouses with fall/winter.  I'm not sure why, since there are summer blouses.  There's just something about a nice long-sleeved blouse in a rich color.  Oh, and if it has a bow--that's even better!

In these pics, this blouse looks a bit lighter than it actually does in person.  It's actually more of a deeper "ginger" color.  It looks great with jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt!  If interested, you can get it HERE.

Hope the rest of your week is great!

Yay, for Friday!

The hubs and I have no big plans this weekend.  There are a few things going on here in ATL like Music Midtown.  We're not partaking tho, even though I'd really love to see the band, Twenty One Pilots.  I think we plan to hit up a monthly party that's been going strong here in Atlanta since before I moved here over 8 years ago---Old School Saturdays!  I remember going to this party with my girls back in the day, which we considered as being full of "old fogies", and us being the youngest chicks there stealing the show.  My how the tables turn!  I'm just going to be happy to be hearing some music that I actually know the words to!

Anyway, have a great weekend!

Dรฎner en Blanc ATL

This past weekend, the hubs and I had the pleasure of attending "Diner en Blanc" here in Atlanta.  The event "Diner en Blanc" is an all white dinner party that happens in different cities all over the world.  I won't go through the back story on it, and there is a back story...but all I can say is the night was magical!  I have to admit, it is a hard ticket to get--but if you get the chance, you should definitely go if it makes it to your city!  To read up on the history of "Diner en Blanc", go HERE.

P.S. The dress I'm wearing, I'd bought over a year ago.  I just knew there would be some all white event that I'd be able to wear it to, and I couldn't have picked a better event!  Unfortunately, it's sold out, but I've found an identical one in the color "slate" HERE.

Enjoy your week!

A kimono with booties, such a cute, boho chic combination, don't ya think?

Just thought I'd put up a quick blog post for the week.  I have a busy weekend ahead.  The hubs and I will be attending the highly sought after event "Dรฎner en Blanc" here in Atlanta.  We are super excited.  There's also One Music Fest, among the other many events that will be going on.  But who's complaining?

Have a great weekend, guys.

Transition

Black Floral 2PC Set - HERE // Booties - HERE

Fall is in the air.  Yes, the high temps here in Atlanta are still in the 90's...BUT in the mornings, you can feel Fall trying to creep in.  There's a slight coolness there, that wasn't before.  I hate to admit it (because I'm such a summer time girl), but I welcome it.  This summer has been pretty extreme, and I have to admit that I'm starting to look forward to Fall clothing.

So, now's the time when I'm shopping, I'm looking for pieces that will easily transition into Fall.  I haven't totally ditched buying summer fashions just yet, because right now the deals are too good.  So I just keep an eye out for those summer wears that are in nice deep, rich colors that can play double-duty for both seasons.

I'm also looking forward to the "all pumpkin everything" phase to hit as well.  I see many Starbucks pumpkin lattes in my future.

Happy Hump Day!

Dusty Rose

TOP // JEANS (Zara, old), similar on sale!// SHOES (old), similar

Hey guys! Did you have a good weekend?  I did.  Saturday, I had an epic workout at the gym and then later that evening, a really nice date night with the hubster.  I wore this "dusty rose" colored embroidered peasant top on our night on the town.  It was so hot and since we were just going to tool around downtown Atlanta, which would include some walking, I knew this air-y top would be perfect.  I actually got a couple compliments from strangers on it.  Make sure to snap one up HERE.

Anyway, the fam and I will be heading to the Bahamas this week.  My husband's maternal grandmother passed away after being sick for quite some time.  We are all sad to see her go, but know that she is no longer suffering. Aside from dealing with that, I will try to get some pictures in of that beautiful place we consider a second home.

Happy Monday!

99 Problems, but...

Sometimes we, as people, get overly caught up in stuff that doesn't concern us.  At times it's hard minding your own business especially when others put so much out there in these social media streets...

When I find myself over analyzing why some people do the idiotic things that they do, I try to remind myself that it's "Nacho Problem", just enjoy the show.

Stay focused, guys!

She said "Hola, como estas? She said "Konichiwa!"...  Good morning, readers.  That darn song was playing after I'd dropped my kids off at school, and of course it will now stay stuck in my head for the next 4 hours.  Speaking of school, I just have to say....YAY FOR BACK TO SCHOOL!  Here in Atlanta, some of the school districts start school quite a bit earlier, but my kids also get a lot of days off during the year as well.  Makes it great for squeezing in family vacays all throughout the year, instead of having to wait for summer.

So, I'm wearing this "boho chic" one shoulder top that I currently have stocked in my store.  I love the print and how air-y and free it feels.  To snap one up, get it HERE!

Happy Hump Day!

White Oak

So this past weekend, Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week kicked off.  I had found out about it on Facebook, and immediately knew that we would participate in it on our weekly date night.  After quickly checking the website, me and hubs decided on White Oak Kitchen.  The Yelp reviews were good and the hipster-ish name drew me in.

We were out and about on Saturday fairly early for a brewery tour, so we arrived for a slightly earlier-than-usual-for-a-Saturday-night dinner, which is why it may look a little empty in my photos.  I have to say, I love the decor.  It has all of these wood accents (of course) and has a huge wall of tall windows.  All of the natural light gives the place such a nice vibe, not to mention, it's perfect for taking food pictures.

During Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week, participating restaurants put together a special prix-fixe menu at a fixed price that includes 3 or 4 courses.  The price is always a steal for what you're getting and it's such a great way for diners to become aquainted with the restaurant and it's food!  That is really the purpose of "restaurant weeks" in general--to get people inside these restaurants to discover or re-discover their offerings.

Because, I'm no bonafide restaurant critic, I will quickly let you know what we ordered.  I ordered the watermelon salad, chicken, and of course, the chocolate pot de crรฉme.  Hubs ordered the tomato salad, pork, and the same dessert.  We both added the accompanying wine pairings as well.  We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.  From the salads (hub's salad was the winner), to the entrรฉes (tie), down to the dessert (same).  The wine pairings, also, perfectly complimented each course.

I also would like to mention that the service was impeccable, including the sommelier!

So, if you live in the Atlanta area or are visiting, go have dinner at White Oak Kitchen, or drinks even at their beautiful but cozy bar.  I also recommend you try as many other restaurants as you can during ADRW, that's what me and the hubs plan to do!
